Alanah completed her undergraduate studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, where she earned a double Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Community. She holds a clinical license in Marriage and Family Therapy and is an Approved Clinical Supervisor in the state of Washington. Alanah is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and specializes in youth, teenager and young adults’ adjustments and life stage transitions.

Since 2005, she has worked with youth and families in various settings, including hospitals, residential settings, community mental health, and schools. Alanah has a commitment and passion for serving children and families from birth through the age of 24 of special populations: foster care/system involvement, LBGTQ+, girls of color addressing trauma, mood disturbances, identity and self-esteem, urban affairs, and race relations with an emphasis in faith/spirituality.

As a holistic therapist, she approaches healing from wide perspectives and schools of thought. Alanah explores the extended family to address contributing influences on the current-day concerns, seeking small revelations and changes over time. This process becomes a vehicle for finding multigenerational patterns, creating boundaries, and learning solutions while having a playful imagination. Bringing one’s extended culture, values, and beliefs into therapy are also heavily infused in her work.

Patterns are powerful, but they are not permanent. Understanding how historical backgrounds can contribute to continual trends that then impact the health and functioning of self and/or family are vital. Alanah cultivates a  consistent safe space to offer a blend of nonjudgmental kindness, clinical insight, and thoughtful in session and out of session interventions. She will partner with you in moving you towards a fuller and more satisfying participation in your own life.

Alanah is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
