ADAIR HASTY-vannoy

As a native Seattleite, Adair grew up attending schools and living in the Central and South Seattle areas. With the divorce of her parents, Adair experienced living in a chaotic environment with four younger siblings. It was these early experiences that created within her a desire to help and serve others.

The Call to Christian Counseling

Born out of the desire to “empower and impact others with the truth of God’s Word,” Adair spent a number of years serving within the faith community as a lay counselor and social worker. During this same season of helping others, Adair began own journey into therapy; and became intimately aware of the stigma associated with mental health and counseling within communities of color.

The Approach & Goal of Christian Counseling

Adair believes that there are three keys to effective Christian Counseling: 1) clarify the goals for counseling, 2) identify internal resources and 3) outline the steps to help achieve those goals. Most of these resources will be drawn from your own gifts and will focus on deepening the understanding of self and building on your strengths. Lastly you will explore any underlying issues that may be preventing you from thriving in your day-to-day life. Adair’s goal is to help you leave therapy with greater self-awareness and understanding of God’s purpose in your life.

Qualifications & Experience

Adair holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Arts degree (M.Ed) in Clinical Counseling, from Seattle University.

Adair spends her free time sharing about topics related to the intersection of Faith and Mental Health within BIPOC communities, Parenting, and Women’s Issues as well as serving on the City of Renton, Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) since 2017.

She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Washington Mental Health Counseling Association (WMHCA).
